Here's a quick tip for those of us who tend to pick up feelings and sensations from others.
After touching someone, wash your hands thoroughly. Wash up to your elbows, then rinse by pushing the water down, through your arms and out your fingers. It really does help, especially when you pick up someone's pain.
Another tip: if you are unable to wash your hands, use hand sanitizer. It is usually adequate, at least for everyday emotions and physical sensations.
