Are You An Empath?

Posted on April 6, 2012 at 9:30 AM

My knee began hurting last week. I felt confused.   My knee almost never hurts.  Later I discovered that my boss had injured his knee during his martial arts exercise.

The pain I felt wasn't mine.

That isn't an unusual experience for me.  I'm very empathic.  That makes it difficult to be around people at times, until I realize that what I am feeling or thinking isn't from within me, it is from someone else.

So what is an empath?  An empath is someone who can feel or sense another's experience within themselves.  Often it is to the point of experiencing the sensation or emotion as your own, as in the case of the knee pain.

You may feel a person, an animal, a plant, or even inanimate objects.  Mostly is is feeling, but it does extend to other senses.  I even can tap in to the authors of books I read, or the musicians I hear on the radio.

Many people who are empathic also make good mediums.

Growing up -  and way into my adult life -  I thought there was something wrong with me.  No one around me knew what this thing was.   They all said I was "over-sensitive" and "over-emotional."

I have this gift that most people never even imagined existed, and I had to learn most of what I know about it on my own.  I discovered that this gift is not for the weak, it is for the strong.  I can handle not only my own life, I can handle tapping in to the feelings, emotions and sometimes the thoughts of others, too.

So if you are empathic, give yourself a pat on the back!  You are strong!  You are compassionate!  You rock!

Until next time, live happily psychic!
